You can also use public blog sites like Blogger.com as a platform to learn the basics of Internet marketing. Blogging platforms are a little more flexible than other Web 2.0 properties.

These properties are fairly easy to use, but there will be learning curve. By making a page on these sites, you are starting to gain skills for developing websites.

Start out by just writing a text article. It probably looks pretty boring. You can use HTML to mark up the text so it can beitalicized, or make the text bold. HTML is what you use to format your text.

The point here is that you had a choice of two ways to start executing what you have been reading about. The first choice, building your own website, is a large overwhelming task. it requires many different skills. Building a web site is on your affiliate marketing horizon. However, get to it when you are ready.

Missing from this discussion is finding a topic to build your page around. I am suggest that you just build the first page about anything that is of interest to you. The mission here is just to get your feet wet by taking a small baby step.
