Affiliate marketing is all about selling other peoples product for a commission. This is what sales people do for every company. Marketing is about making people aware of the product and everything there is to offer.
Marketing people gather the crowd. Sales people close the sale.
Understanding this can help you out as a marketer. Why? Because as a marketer, you do not have to close the sale. Your product affiliate should do that. Your job is to bring people to the sales page of the company offering the product.
It is their job to sell. It is your job to find people and direct them to the sales page.
Affiliate Marketing Means Getting the Word Out
There are a few ways to get the word out such as: article marketing, becoming and expert and blogging, building your own list and pay per click (PPC).
Which of these routes to take is up to you. To decide, you need to answer only one question:
Is it you?
Are you a writer? Or, at the very least, you like to write, then try article marketing.
If you have extreme interest in a certain area, and like to write, blog about it.
Do you see yourself successful at customer relations? E-mail lists may prove successful for you.
Have cash burning hole in your pocket? Try (with extreme caution) pay per click advertising.
Are you good at orchestrating and can talk people into doing things for you? Or have the cash to hire people? Then find people to do any of the above for you.
Sometimes You Have Got To Sell
There are some products where you can make commission, but there is no sales page to go to. This is true if you are selling products for someone like Amazon. In this case, you are the sales guy and not the marketer.
You will need to do two things. You will need to create sales copy. And, you will need to market the product.
